What's available
Currently, within the Resources section of MyHouseMyStreet we offer:
A) The means to search for the past occupancy details of all the houses in the local streets we have researched - results are derived from directory and census data. So, if you are fortunate enough to live in one of these streets you can quickly and easily discover who lived in your house before you. More about Directories and Census
B) The ability to look at most Brighton & Hove street and trade directories published between 1784 and 1975; these can assist you to discover the past uses and residency details for local properties.
C) A selection of detailed local street histories and materials related to these. If you reside in one of the streets we have already written about, we hope you you will discover lots of new and exciting information about where you live.
During 2012 we hope to supplement our resources with further street histories, additional occupancy search capabilities (information about the residents of more streets) and, hopefully, a full set of Brighton & Hove census documents for the period 1841 to 1911.
D) Statistical information about the houses and local streets we have researched.
In the longer run, we plan to add additional content to the system, including primary source materials such as planning records, old photos and family correspondence and secondary recourses such as family histories and statistical analysis of raw data.
